Cillar Silos, Ribera Duero Flor Silos Brut ZeroThe tender and delicate 2018 Flor de Silos has an expressive and open nose, floral and aromatic. It was produced with grapes from two low yielding vineyards at 900 meters in altitude, planted in 1927 and 1930 on limestone rich soils. It fermented in 3,000 liter vats followed by malolactic and 18 months in barrel. It's ripe and voluptuous with glossy tannins and a lush texture. 5,410 bottles were filled in September 2020.

the 1999 has held up well

While this is certainly very good

Once again moderate wood is present on the more obviously menthol-infused aromas of red currant

spice and leather lend notable complexity

and this vintage does a great job of packaging it all together

This is an especially brooding

length and complexity in the long and endlessly salty finish

so they only got 50% of a normal crop

a little spicier than I recall with fine tension towards the finish

there's not much going on here

spice and earth hints

This is also admirably pure
