Due to the age, the paint from some of the handles has chipped, but this only adds to their rustic beauty. One specific jhara (3) has a hand carved inscription around the rim in Gujarati. They were originally used primarily to make boondi, which are small fried chickpea flour balls. They were also used as skimmers, to strain food or skim foam. Nowadays
