Ordinary Saturday Morning 24x36For as opposite as he was of you both you were all the best of each other. In this painting, it was my intent to paint the movement of all of your years spent together as best friends. Saturday mornings taking over a Panera bread, loudly telling the stories from the week's happenings. Him cutting raw chicken with one hand and handing you something to eat with the same hand ten seconds later. Something that felt busy and chaotic with no real beginning

comfort and gratitude that you two so much share within the space of each other

and the courage (and exhaustion for that matter)  it took to walk away from everything I thought I had worked for and wanted

I always made myself the victim in order to not ever have to be accountable or take responsibility for my actions or the consequences

and after I told her how hard this year has been

Her hall passes were things like a full-size foam Green Bay Packers cheesehead hat or a full-size pinata

and costumes

he just seemed to have them a little bit more than I did
