In May 1979 their debut album Three Imaginary Boys was released to great acclaim, and featured the single Boys Don't Cry. Over the years the band's line up would rotate and change, all while they experienced commercial success with singles such as Just Like Heaven, Friday I'm in Love, Lullaby, Pictures of You, and Close to Me.
