the middle weight flavors possess a sleeker and more refined texture that is aided by the abundant dry extract that buffers the firm but not rustic tannins shaping the impressively persistent finish

more so than the more linear and focused 2016 Brunello Pianrosso (that I preferred by a tiny margin)

a touch of liquorice developing with aeration

The fruit remains fabulously rich and vibrant from start to finish

and the latest of the decade

It would be nice to see a little more mid-palate depth and persistence
