Description
Warre, Vintage other_regionsThis house makes rather restrained yet rich, flavorful vintage port and a very good tawny called Nimrod. Their vintage ports seem slow to develop, and while they never quite have the voluptuous richness of a Dow, Graham, or Fonseca, they have a unique mineral scented character that gives them their own complexity and style. The 1963 is very, very good and now fully mature.
with grainy tannins and firm acidity
but all the elements are nicely balanced
floral and lifted
but it is incredibly delicious today
It's a series that has set the bar extraordinarily high
concentrated yet impressively refined wine with plenty of inner mouth perfume as well as an abundance of palate coating old vine sap that serves to cushion the still quite firm tannic spine on the strikingly persistent finish
the finish hangs in there with its dusty cherries
The visit was capped off by previews of the 2004 Cristal and the as-yet-unreleased Cristal Rose
as Franchetti puts it
balanced acidity and elegant tannins are rolled into one beautiful wine
with restrained tannins and no rough edges
There is the same superb breadth to the rich
