Description
Henri Gouges, Nuits Saint Georges Pruliers Vintage:2012(from a 2 ha parcel with a mix of 80% 75+ year old vines and the remainder of 15 to 20 year old vines). A more deeply pitched and brooding nose only grudgingly reveals its aromas of cassis plum liqueur and pungent earth where the latter is also found on the vibrant and well detailed big bodied and tautly muscular flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence. This is not as dense as the best in the range, but it should have no trouble amply
(91-94)/2025+
backward and firmly structured effort will need at least 6 to 8 years to add flesh and complexity and will likely require fully 15+ years to reveal its full potential
These lower parts of Brunate perform very nicely in the cooler vintages
It seems quite marked by the character of the Carmenere
particularly on the finish
The floral element comes back strong on the mineral-driven finish
dark chocolate and anise
This is also quite pretty with its mix of plum
(from Chassagne fruit)
corpulent textures
along with a hint of exotic spices that builds steadily in the glass
Alta Mesa vineyard (Santa Barbara County)
