and controlled etching to vary the weight of line
Evening on the Waterfront, by Ernest W Watson, Amer., (1884-1969) Chalk it was possibly a localColor Linocut, 1924, Ed. 91 100, 9 3 4 x 8 1 4, signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil, on cream wove japan paper, small brown paper hinges and slight handling creases to top margin recto, a beautiful impression of this beautiful print, with it's subtle, muted color harmonies. Both Ernest W. Watson and his wife Eva Auld Watson were masters of color linocut and influential through the books and articles they published on printmaking and drawing.
