Released on Feb. 12, 1990, it was certified Platinum on April 27, 1990 for one million copies sold. The album went to #1 and stayed there for 21 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, mainly based on the strength of the single "U Can't Touch This". It also went to #8 on the UK chart. By 1991 the album became one of the rare RIAA Diamond sellers with 10 million copies
