Key tasks and activities of the R&D Department


  • Study of Etiopathogenetic Mechanisms and Epidemiology: Investigating etiopathogenetic mechanisms, the biophysiosocial pathomorphosis, and key epidemiological indicators of major socially significant mental and behavioral disorders (e.g., affective disorders, cognitive impairments, and psychotic conditions), as well as identifying vulnerable population groups through regional and multicenter research projects.
  • Development of Clinical-Linguistic Research: Advancing a clinical-linguistic scientific direction within a multidisciplinary team (psychiatrist, philologist, mathematician) to study language diagnostic markers and develop language-based therapeutic targets for the treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation (language remediation) of socially significant mental and behavioral disorders (e.g. affective disorders, cognitive impairments, and psychotic conditions).
  • Innovative Psychotechnologies and Therapeutic Approaches: Developing new and enhancing existing approaches, methods, and psychotechnologies for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating major socially significant mental and behavioral disorders (e.g. affective disorders, cognitive impairments, and psychotic conditions).
  • Evaluation of Therapeutic Methods and Rehabilitation Approaches: Assessing the efficacy and safety of existing pharmaceutical interventions (clinical trials of modern pharmacological agents) and non-pharmacological treatments, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, language remediation, physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy, phytotherapy, balneotherapy, and etc.
  • Development of Web-versions of the Diagnostic Tools and Research Platforms: Creating new screening diagnostic programs, web-based psychometric tools, software applications, electronic research protocols, and databases to enhance the quality of diagnostic processes, therapeutic approaches, and research activities.
  • Improvement of Scientific and Intellectual Output: Strengthening scientific publication metrics and advancing the university’s intellectual property registration indicators.
  • Community Engagement and Psychoeducation: Participating in psychoeducational programs to disseminate and popularize the findings of scientific research among the general population.
