Dear colleagues and conference participants!

On behalf of the scientific committee of the international conference “Depression: YOUng mInds with restless MOODs (You, I, Mood)”, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your invaluable contribution to the program of our professional event “European Depression Day – 2024”, taken place on November 1st-3rd 2024.

We can confidently say that the conference has a great success at the national level, with about 300 people registered, and more than 400 attendees, including specialists, students, and even patient community representatives, participated in person and online over three days. We have received positive feedback from practicing doctors, scientists, and early career professionals.

The conference program, dedicated to the memory of Professor Petr Viktorovich Morozov, featured 32 lecturers from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Hungary, India, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Malaysia.

The opening ceremony included greetings on behalf of the Rector of Samara State Medical University, RAS Professor Alexander Kolsanov, Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies SamGMU Professor Svetlana Palevskaya, President of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists and Director of the V.M. Bekhterev National Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology Professor Nikolai Neznanov, Chief Psychiatrist-Narcologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Director of RSSPCPN Professor Zarifzhon Ashurov, representative of the 10th Eastern European zone of the World Psychiatric Association Professor Nikolay Negay, head of the Department for pathogenetic research in psychiatry at the Moscow Research Institute of Psychiatry, a branch of the V.P. Serbsky National Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology Professor Valery Krasnov, head of the Department of the European Depression Association’s Secretary General Professor Giuseppe Tavormina, and head of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology of Kazan State Medical University Professor Vladimir Mendelevich. A welcome address was read on behalf of the Chief Psychiatrist of Russia and Director of the V.P. Serbsky National Medical Research Center, Professor Svetlana Shport. The children of our teacher and mentor, Professor Petr Viktorovich Morozov, who influenced generations of specialists in psychiatric healthcare in Russia, – daughter Anna and son Denis Morozov, supported the conference in person.

Prof. Olga Karpenko, “Use of Remote Assistance in Diagnosing and Treating Depressive States in Children and Adolescents” by Senior Researcher Oleg Khayretdinov, and “Depression and the Risk of Alzheimer’s Disease” by Associate Professor Daria Smirnova.

The first two days of the conference were held in-person, with the second day featuring practical workshops on applying clinical recommendations in treating affective disorders by Associate Professor Alexey. Pavlichenko and on the method of transcranial magnetic stimulation in treating mental and behavioral disorders by Professor Eduard Tsukarzi. Additionally, there was a meeting of the Early Career Psychiatrists’ Council of the Russian Society of Psychiatrists under the leadership of Alyona Leonova.

The third day began with a recorded lecture “Depression and Culture” by Professor Petr Morozov and continued with an online symposium “Depression and Academia Without Borders,” featuring presentations by leading professors engaged in the search for biomarkers of mood disorders and suicidal behavior, and the development of organizational forms of assistance to individuals with affective disorders in European, Asian, and Latin American countries (Professors Giuseppe Tavormina (Italy), Florence Thibaut (France), Avinash De Sousa (India), Xenia Gonda (Hungary), Paul Cumming (Switzerland), Salmi Razali (Malaysia), Federico Rebok (Argentina), and others.
